By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister-elect John Briceno has announced that the People’s United Party expects to win the 2025 General Elections.
He told reporters in Orange Walk Town that he is “elated” by the results and “humbled” by his own sweeping victory with an estimated 75 percent of the vote, securing an eighth term as area representative.
“I make this solemn promise to them that I will never betray them, that I will continue to work for them as best as I can, every single day, because I’ve always said its a privilege and an honor to be Prime Minister, but I am beholden to the people of Orange Walk Central because without them I cannot be where I am,” he said to applause.
The P.M.-elect confirmed that the PUP had swept Orange Walk District including Orange Walk North and East, and elsewhere he held out hope for a “miracle” in Albert while conceding Mesopotamia to Lee Mark Chang, but reserved special praise for new Collet area representative Devin Daly, who succeeded after a two-month campaign over an “out-of-touch” Patrick Faber, who lost 1271 to 1108 per preliminary results.
The Prime Minister-elect announced he will formally address the nation at 10:30 p.m. from Central Park in Orange Walk Town.
