By Aaron Humes: A statement from the office of Leader of the Opposition Tracey Taegar-Panton has confirmed the new lineup of Senators for the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Moving from the Lower House to the Upper House is former Collet area representative Patrick Faber, whose run lasted from 2003 to his defeat two weeks ago to upstart Devin Daly.
Attorney and Interim Chair of the UDP Sheena Pitts, attorney-at-law, was one of Faber’s original appointees to the Senate when he was party leader five years ago but was gradually sidelined. She now returns as his second, becoming the second Party Chair after Michael Peyrefitte to serve in the Senate.
The third appointee is a relative political newcomer, Gabriel Zetina from San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. He is a businessman and former candidate for Town Council on the island.
This completes the line-up for the 13-person Senate which will be sworn in on a date to be announced before their fellows in the House of Representatives.
