BREAKING: Murder victim is 26-year-old Coast Guard member Charles James; police have suspect in custody

By Aaron Humes: Another murder has been reported in Belize City, but latest information is that police have one person in custody, believed to be the chief suspect.

Dead is a Coast Guard member Charles James, 26, who was rushed to hospital after being shot.

We understand that police arrived on the scene on Consuelo Street, responding to a report of two men riding around with masks, shortly after gunshots were heard and exchanged gunfire with the attacker, who fled. Police shortly thereafter acted on a received tip and located the gunman inside an abandoned house on nearby Haulze Street and took him in without further incident.

Investigations are underway.
