By Zoila Palma: At its meeting on April 1, 2025, Cabinet approved the transfer of responsibility for land tax collection to the Belize Tax Service (BTS).
This transition will take place over the next year, with a phased process involving close coordination between the BTS, the Lands Department, and other relevant authorities.
As part of the transition, the IRIS online platform will be utilized for land tax assessment, billing, and collection, aiming to enhance efficiency and enforcement in the system.
