By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belizean national who was taken by his wife for medical treatment in Honduras died this morning at the Western Border.
The patient was reportedly being transported in an Ambulance from Honduras to Belize and upon arrival at the Western Border, they were denied entry by Customs personnel and Border Management Agency personnel.
The patient from Southern Belize had been in Honduras since January 20 and underwent surgery there.
The family’s plan was for the Honduran ambulance to transfer him to a Belizean ambulance to take him home.
However, upon arrival at the Western Border, the ambulance was denied entry even after the medical professionals with the patient attempted to explain to officials at the border that due to the patient’s condition, they would transport him to the Western Regional Hospital since he had suffered seizures on the road from Honduras to Belize.
But the patient reportedly took his last breath at the Belize Western Border and was declared dead by the Honduran medical officials who were transporting him.
