By Zoila Palma: For Keanu, science has always been more than a subject — it’s been a calling.
Born and raised in the proud twin town of Santa Elena, Keanu’s journey from a curious student to a licensed pharmacist is a story of dedication, compassion, and community spirit.
A cum laude graduate of the University of Belize, Keanu earned his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, laying a strong foundation for his professional career. Even while pursuing his degree full-time, he volunteered at a local pharmacy — an experience that strengthened his commitment to helping others and gave him a firsthand understanding of the vital role pharmacists play in healthcare.
After completing his studies, Keanu went on to successfully pass the national pharmacy board exams, officially becoming a registered pharmacist. But his journey into pharmacy began long before university — rooted in a personal experience that shaped his path.
His journey into pharmacy began with a personal connection – helping his mother manage her medications during times of illness. This experience sparked a lifelong interest in the field, and he has since pursued a career that combines his love of science, care, and community.
Today, Keanu combines his love of science with a deep sense of care for his patients. Whether behind the counter or in his community, he is always ready to answer questions about medications, ensuring that people understand what they take and why.
“We are the backbone of the medical field, ensuring that you get proper medications, proper dosings, and checking for errors. We are the last line of defense,” he says.
Beyond his white coat, Keanu enjoys traveling, gaming, and spending time with friends, finding joy and balance in life’s simple pleasures. His easygoing nature and willingness to help — even outside of work hours — have earned him the trust and appreciation of those around him.
Looking ahead, Keanu hopes to pursue a Master’s degree, not for financial gain, but for personal fulfillment and growth.
From the quiet streets of Santa Elena to the frontlines of Belize’s healthcare system, Keanu Chulin’s journey stands as a testament to the power of purpose, perseverance, and pride in one’s profession — proof that with passion and heart, science can truly serve humanity.
