Breaking Belize News and STEM U Foundation honors Raquel Coyoc as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) model in Belize

By Zoila Palma:  Breaking Belize News and Stem U Foundation is honoring Mopan Tech student Raquel Coyoc as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) model in Belize.

On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, BBN and STEM U join Mopan Technical High School in highlighting proud 4th form student Raquel who continues to demonstrate determination, creativity, and courage in pursuing her goals.

As a VOTECH student with a strong interest in infrastructure and hands-on learning, Raquel intentionally chose a path that is often considered non-traditional for young women. She firmly believes that women can excel—and even dominate—in fields traditionally led by men.

Raquel lives by the mindset that she can achieve anything once she puts her mind to it. Her message to other girls is clear and confident: Do not believe that because men dominate a field, you cannot enter it—or that you cannot excel beyond expectations.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Raquel is also a young entrepreneur.

She owns and operates Raquel’s Forever Lasting Roses, a business she has successfully managed for the past year and a half. Her work focuses on creating beautiful rose arrangements for any occasion, combining her creativity with business initiative. She can be contacted at 601-6761.

Raquel has represented Mopan Technical High School at various events and most recently attended the University of Belize’s Symposium for Girls and Women in Science where she proudly stood among other young women pursuing excellence in science and technical fields.

Raquel is a strong example of what vision, confidence, and hard work can accomplish. We are proud of her continued growth and leadership.
