Breaking Belize News and Stem U Foundation joins in honoring Dr. Tamarie Pearl Rocke as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) model in Belize.

Dr. Rocke currently works with the World Health Organization (WHO), supporting National Action Plans in Belize, Barbados, Guyana and Saint Lucia—countries working to strengthen their response to one of the world’s most urgent health threats.

Dr. Rocke’s academic and professional background spans both regional and international institutions. She earned her MBBS from the University of the West Indies in 2015 and later completed a Master’s in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford in 2021.

As an international AMR consultant with the Pan American Health Organization, she provided technical support to governments throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention.

She now serves as a consultant for the WHO conducting pipeline analyses on novel antibiotics.

Beyond her clinical and research work, Dr. Rocke is also the founder of ReFillery, Belize’s first refill-delivery service aimed at reducing single-use plastics, and she continues to champion environmental protection through her sustainability platform.

CARICOM’s feature also highlights Dr. Rocke’s commitment to youth empowerment, especially for girls pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM). An Oxford scholar and active mentor, she says her journey is meant to inspire the next generation of Caribbean women.

“So privileged to have been featured in this campaign. My genuine hope is that girls and women across Belize and the region feel seen through my story, and just as capable and empowered to make change through a career in STEAM,” Dr. Rocke expressed.
