By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service of Belize is warning that moist and unstable weather conditions are lingering across the country as a strong cold front moves into the region, bringing with it widespread rain, gusty winds, and rough seas.
According to forecaster Crystal Rosalez, mostly cloudy to overcast skies are expected throughout the day, with moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms likely across most areas, particularly along the southern coast, offshore waters, and central Belize later this evening.
Winds will shift from north-northeast to north-northwest, increasing in strength from 10–25 knots, with squally gusts expected near heavy showers. As a result, seas will range from choppy to very rough, with wave heights between 3 and 8 feet.
The Met Service has issued a Small Craft Caution, urging operators to monitor conditions closely and avoid venturing out to sea in rough weather.
Temperatures are expected to dip as the front passes; coastal highs near 82°F (28°C) will drop to around 69°F (21°C) tonight. Inland areas could cool to 62°F (17°C), and hills may see lows around 60°F (16°C).
Forecasters say that by Tuesday, the cold front will bring cool, windy, and cloudy conditions across the country, with light rain expected mainly over southern and offshore areas.
