Bowen & Bowen expands Jingle Box program, celebrates 16 years of holiday generosity

By Aaron Humes: In a heartwarming annual display of community spirit and generosity, Bowen & Bowen, Ltd. Today celebrated the 16th anniversary of its beloved Jingle Box program, which aims to provide festive cheer to families across Belize during the holiday season.

This year marks a significant expansion of the initiative, with Bowen & Bowen increasing the number of Jingle Boxes to 300. This enhancement will allow even more families to enjoy a complete holiday meal, complemented by special treats. The program as always thrives on the remarkable generosity of Bowen & Bowen employees, who contribute their own funds. The company matches these donations and receives valuable support from licensor The Coca-Cola Company to help ensure that each box is generously stocked.

Rosanna Villanueva, Bowen corporate relations manager, said, “It’s a great initiative. We are so grateful to our employees for their generosity when it comes to these boxes, and going up to 300 means that we are now able to spread some more love, spread some more joy. We were able to increase the number of boxes we give to some of the organizations that we work with, and this year we were able to add a couple more organizations – we call them partner NGOs – we were able to add a couple more to the list which just means that more boxes will be going out across the country.”

Key charitable partners, including the Cancer Society in Belmopan, the HelpAge Group, St. Vincent De Paul Society, and several others, play an essential role by identifying families in need and facilitating the timely delivery of the Jingle Boxes for Christmas.

Sonia Byrne of the Cancer Society responded in her thank you statement, “Your generosity is invaluable. Donations like yours will make a significant difference in the lives of those families in our communities that we serve. Your commitment to helping us make a positive impact is deeply appreciated.”

Athina Major of Belize Friends Ministry, which runs the Friends School in Port Loyola and a community center, noted that they work with students from marginalized communities, and they will give out six boxes to deserving students and their families.

The familiar Joel “Dara” Robinson, who continues to run his feeding program out of his Dunn Street address, explained how he will give out his five, maybe more boxes this season: “It’s very hard because of the need and television bring pressure to me because as people see this, those who I help and those who I think get a lot of boxes will come to the yard. Normally, what I do is to go to the school [All Saints’ Primary] and find out which children that come to the program [have] the best behavior and I give them.”

For those able to afford other Bowen products such as soft drinks and beer, be sure to check in with your local sales center as hours will be convenient for pickup and delivery. For more information on opening hours, check out Bowen’s Facebook page.
