By Zoila Palma: The “blue tsunami” that swept across Belize in 2020 made a powerful return on March 12, 2025, with the People’s United Party (PUP) claiming a resounding victory, securing 26 out of 31 seats.
In Toledo East, the blue wave was particularly dominant as the PUP’s Dr. Osmond Martinez achieved more than 90% victory margin.
Dr. Martinez garnered 4,954 votes, while his opponent, the PNP’s Wil Maheai, secured only 374 votes, and independent candidate Orlando Muschamp received 37 votes.
Dr. Martinez expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his constituents, stating, “My people, thank you once again for re-electing me as your area representative. This victory is for you, my beautiful people of Toledo East. Together, we will make a real difference. Together, we will transform Toledo East! Victory is secured, and Toledo East will remain PUP territory!”
This win further cements Dr. Martinez’s commitment to his community, as he continues to work toward positive change.
