Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belize City and Belmopan Lawrence Sydney Nicasio is being laid to rest on Tuesday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Bishop Lawrence Sydney Nicasio, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belize City and Belmopan, who passed away on New Year’s Day is being laid to rest on Tuesday.

A revered and beloved figure in Belize, Bishop Nicasio passed away at 4:54 am on Monday, January 1, 2024, at his residence in Belize City after a long battle with cancer.

67-year-old Bishop Nicasio devoted his life to religious life. For 34 years he carried on his devoted priestly and episcopal ministry.

The Funeral Mass for the later Bishop Nicasio is being officiated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Co-Cathedral in Belmopan. Guadalupe Media is carrying the Mass live. Click here to follow.

Bishop Nicasio will be buried in the Co-cathedral yard.

A Mass of Thanksgiving for his life was held at Holy Redeemer Cathedral in Belize City on Monday, January 8.
