The Bishop Martin High School Cardinals of Orange Walk captured the 2025 National Secondary Schools Sports Association Girls Basketball Championship in commanding fashion, defeating Georgetown Technical High School Egrets 48–20 in Saturday’s final at the Orange Walk Multipurpose Complex.
The Northern champions were relentless from the start. 2024/2025 MVP Jahzara Pascual spearheaded the charge with 19 points, while 2023 MVP Aysha Acosta added 11. Jiselle Alvarado chipped in 8, and Richrin Diaz scored 6 to keep the scoreboard ticking. Contributions from Tiana Tillett and Jazz Erwin rounded out the team effort with a basket each.

The Egrets, who had advanced by beating Belmopan Methodist Bulldogs 33–19 in Friday’s semifinal, were led by Destiny Thomas with 8 points and Shaney Meighan with 7. Team captain Emani Sandoval, who had led the effort against Belmopan Methodist on Friday with 12 points, was limited to only a free throw against Bishop Martin.
Bishop Martin booked their place in the final with a 33–28 semifinal win over four‑time consecutive Central champions Wesley College, with Pascual scoring 18 points. Wesley might have stood a better chance against the eventual champions had they recruited 2022 MVP Aldaeshuny Dixon, who now plays for Sadie Vernon High School.

Wesley later secured third place with a 44–17 rout of Belmopan Methodist, thanks to Jeniyah Welch’s 20‑point performance.
The NSSSA executive committee presented trophies and medals to the top three teams, celebrating Bishop Martin’s dominant run through the tournament.
