By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a road traffic accident that occurred in Belmopan overnight on Monday.
The ongoing investigation commenced about 2:00 a.m., when police responded to a report of a road traffic accident on Constitution Drive, Belmopan. Upon arrival, they observed two male persons motionless on the pavement. Further checks revealed a 24-inch bicycle on the edge of the road and a 125cc Meilun motorcycle on the road. The rider of the bicycle was identified as 18-year-old Romaldo Salam, a pump attendant of Belmopan, who was observed with multiple injuries to his body. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 26-year-old Jerry Alexander Sho of Cayo District, who was also observed with multiple injuries.
Both victims were transported by paramedics to the Western Regional Hospital for medical attention. Romaldo Salam was later transported to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital to seek further medical attention and is listed in critical condition. No samples or specimens could be retrieved from either individual due to their medical conditions.
