By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The defending national champions Georgetown Technical High School Egrets enter Saturday’s 2025–26 NSSSA Girls National Final as the favourites, backed by one of the most experienced and decorated squads in the tournament. But the BHSA Stingers, confident and disciplined, believe they have the talent to challenge the champions when the two sides meet at 12:00 pm at the Marion Jones Sports Complex.
Georgetown’s experience sets the tone
The Egrets return with a lineup anchored by captain Kenya Perez, a Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) champion and Belize Women’s National Team midfielder. Her leadership and composure in midfield have been central to Georgetown’s dominance at the high‑school level.
She is joined by two rising national‑team players:
- Jolene Aranda — U17 BWNT, PWLB
- Kiana Lewis — U17 BWNT, PWLB
Their combination of senior‑level experience, national‑team exposure, and tournament maturity gives Georgetown a level of pedigree unmatched in this year’s field.
The Egrets earned their place in today’s final with a 2–1 win over Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School on Friday.

Stingers carry belief and firepower
The BHSA Stingers arrive with confidence after edging EP Yorke High School 1–0 in Friday’s second semifinal. Their key attacking threat is Betsy Perez, who also competes in the Premier Women’s League of Belize, giving BHSA a proven forward capable of troubling even the most experienced backlines.
BHSA know they are the underdogs, but their ability to grind out results make them a dangerous opponent.
Third‑place match opens the day
The final day of competition begins with the girls’ third‑place match at 8:00 am, featuring Mount Carmel against EP Yorke.
A title defence vs a first‑time dream
A Georgetown victory would complete their title defence and reinforce their status as the top girls’ programme in the country.
A BHSA win would mark the first national girls’ football title in the school’s history.
