Belize proudly took center stage in the United States capital as the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), in collaboration with the Embassy of Belize in Washington, D.C., hosted the Belize Trade, Investment, and Opportunities Showcase as part of the month-long internationally recognized Passport DC celebrations.
The forum brought together members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, investors, strategic partners, and members of the Belizean diaspora to explore Belize’s growing economic opportunities and experience the country’s vibrant culture and evolving global identity.
The evening commenced with opening remarks from H.E. Nestor Mendez, Ambassador to the United States of America and Permanent Representative of Belize to the Organization of American States, who highlighted the importance of strengthening Belize-United States relations and expanding Belize’s international footprint through trade, investment, and cultural diplomacy.
BELTRAIDE’s Executive Director, Ishmael Quiroz, delivered a presentation showcasing Belize’s competitive advantages and emerging opportunities across key sectors including tourism, agriculture, digital services, sustainable industries, and the blue economy. The presentation also highlighted Belize’s investor-friendly environment, strategic geographic location, and commitment to sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
As part of the program, guests were given an exclusive preview of Belize’s evolving country brand through a teaser video designed to capture the essence of Belize’s people, culture, experiences, and opportunities. The evening also featured a cultural performance celebrating Belize’s rich heritage and diversity.
Speaking on the significance of the event, BELTRAIDE emphasized the importance of positioning Belize not only as a premier tourism destination but also as a dynamic and competitive hub for trade and investment.
“This forum represents an important opportunity to deepen relationships, foster new partnerships, and share Belize’s story with a global audience. Belize continues to position itself as a country of opportunity, innovation, sustainability, and authentic experiences,” said Executive Director Ishmael Quiroz.
The event concluded with a networking mixer, allowing attendees to engage directly with BELTRAIDE’s ExportBelize and BelizeInvest Units, explore potential partnerships, and experience Belizean products, including signature cocktails from Copalli Rum and Traveller’s Liquors Ltd.
