By Zoila Palma: BELTRAIDE CEO Narda Garcia has highlighted the important role of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in driving economic development across Belize, particularly in rural communities.
Garcia made the remarks during the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development and Local Government’s Annual Stakeholder Recognition Awards 2026, which recognized partners contributing to socioeconomic development at the village, town and municipal levels.
BELTRAIDE noted that rural transformation and MSME development are closely connected, as entrepreneurs in communities create jobs, add value to local resources and strengthen local economies when they have access to training, financing, markets and other business support.
BELTRAIDE said fostering entrepreneurship, investor confidence and business growth remains central to its mission of supporting Belize’s socioeconomic development.
In addition, BELTRAIDE also highlighted the National MSME Roadshow, now in its third year, which brings business development services directly to entrepreneurs across the country.
BELTRAIDE commended Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development and Local Government Oscar Requena and CEO Valentino Shal for their continued partnership in promoting community-centered development.
