Today, BELTRAIDE, in partnership with the Caribbean Export Development Agency and Global Affairs Canada, officially launched the Caribbean Women Entrepreneurs Generating Resilient and Inclusive Trade (GRIT) Project) — a transformative four-year regional initiative (2025–2028) empowering women-led businesses to scale, export, and thrive across the Caribbean.
In his remarks, BELTRAIDE Executive Director, Ishmael Quiroz, highlighted that “a project like this is not only an important partnership for BELTRAIDE but a necessary investment in developing the capacity of our women entrepreneurs.”
CEO in the Office of the Prime Minister, Investment and Civil Aviation, Narda Garcia, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment, noting that “GRIT speaks to the heart of our development strategy. Investing in women is an economic imperative — we are building resilience and promoting inclusive development. GRIT is fully aligned with our national goals.”
Technical Programmes Caribbean Export Development, Wayne Elliott, emphasized the agency’s inclusive vision, stating: “We do not want to leave anyone behind. It was inspiring to hear three CEOs reaffirm that GRIT works for Belize. Our goal is to meet entrepreneurs where they are and to understand their needs and design support that truly serves the women entrepreneurs of Belize.”
Through training, technical assistance, matching grants, and trade missions, GRIT will strengthen the ecosystem for women’s entrepreneurship, supporting greener, tech-driven, and more inclusive growth across the region.
BELTRAIDE expressed pride to be part of this powerful partnership driving women’s economic empowerment and sustainable trade in Belize and beyond.
