By Horace Palacio: A burglary at Best Care Pharmacy in Belmopan City on Saturday, March 9th, resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old suspect. Maya Mopan Police were alerted to the crime in progress by a witness at approximately 2:00 am. Officers arrived to find a fleeing suspect, who was apprehended after a pursuit.
The suspect, identified as Alton Carr, was found in possession of a standard screwdriver, cash, envelopes, and a pink bag. The pharmacy owner reported approximately $4,000 in Belizean currency missing from the store’s Alta Express.
Carr received treatment for a leg injury at Western Regional Hospital and was subsequently charged with burglary. Investigators determined the suspect gained entry to the pharmacy by removing two wooden sidings. A 12-inch screwdriver found on Carr was labeled as evidence.
Scene of Crime personnel processed the pharmacy, and the investigation remains ongoing.
