By Horace Palacio: Belmopan Comprehensive School has issued a public statement following two back-to-back incidents on its campus this week.
According to the school’s administration, a fight between two male students broke out on April 2nd. The situation was quickly de-escalated with the help of the community policing unit, and classes resumed without disruption for the rest of the day.
On April 3rd, however, the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) received an anonymous tip alleging that some students might have planned to retaliate with weapons. In response, authorities conducted a full sweep of classrooms and surrounding areas. No weapons were found.
The school emphasized that normal operations have continued and that ensuring a safe environment for all students remains a top priority.
Parents and guardians are being encouraged to talk with their children about bullying, violence, and the consequences of using threatening language. “These are serious matters and can result in criminal charges,” the school warned.
School officials thanked the community for their understanding and cooperation as they continue to prioritize student safety.
