By Zoila Palma: The Belmopan City Council issued a statement saying that the Mayor and Councillors do not condone the recent actions of one of its employees who was involved in the theft of funds from a child at a local business establishment.
“The Council views this incident with the utmost seriousness. Such behavior is completely unacceptable, deeply troubling, and runs contrary to the values, ethics, and standards expected of all employees of the Belmopan City Council. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for theft, abuse of trust, or any conduct that brings harm to residents, especially children, or disrepute to the institution,” the council said.
The council noted that appropriate administrative and disciplinary actions are being pursued in accordance with established procedures.
The Belmopan City Council says that it remains committed to integrity, accountability, and public trust.
