By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Football enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Belmopan Championship Preseason Quadrangular, organized by Marvin Ottley, is set for Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Ottley has once again put together an impressive lineup for the one-day tournament to be held at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. The tournament features Port Layola FC and Verdes FC from the Premier League of Belize, alongside Belmopan First Division teams, Club Atlético and Napoles FC. Their participation adds an extra layer of excitement and prestige to this year’s tournament.
Action kicks off at 4:00 pm with an exciting match between Napoles and Port Layola, the PLB 2024-2025 Opening Champions. Following this, at 5:30 pm, Club Atlético will face off against Verdes. Fans can look forward to a thrilling day of football, with each game lasting 70 minutes.
After a 30-minute break, the action will resume at 7:30 pm with the third-place match. The day will culminate with the championship match at 9:00 pm, where the top two teams will battle it out for the preseason title.
Ticket prices are set at an affordable $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids, making it a family-friendly event. The Belmopan Championship Preseason Quadrangular promises to be a day filled with competitive football and community spirit, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
Ottley, who is known for organizing these one-day preseason tournaments, previously held the last event in Benque Viejo del Carmen, where Verdes emerged victorious in the Western Championship by defeating Benque Viejo United 2-1 in the final.
Verdes returns with high hopes to add another title to their accolades, but they’ll have to contend with the PLB champions, Port Layola. That’s considering both get past the Belmopan sides, that are no pushovers.

· Game 2: Club Atletico vs. Verdes F.C. at 5:30 pm
· Game 3: Third Place Match at 7:30 pm
· Game 4: Championship Match at 9:00 pm
