By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The four participating teams in the one-day Belmopan Championship Preseason Quadrangular on Saturday, January 11, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, will be competing for $4,000 in prizes.
Apart from preparing for their upcoming seasons, the top-tier teams, Premier League of Belize champions Port Layola, last year’s pre-season champions Verdes, and the two Belmopan First Division clubs, Club Atlético and Napoles, the clubs will be going at each other for the $2,500 winners’ prize.
The tournament, organized by Marvin Ottley, will offer the following prizes:
- 1st Place: $2,500
- 2nd Place: $1,000
- 3rd Place: $500
All winning teams will also receive trophies, adding to the prestige of the competition.
While Ottley is the mastermind behind this event, it’s essential to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of Kursha Pollard, the engine driving the organization of this tournament. Pollard has been instrumental in putting everything together, from assembling the teams to coordinating officials and structuring the event. Alongside Pollard, Jarett Davis also played a crucial role in successfully hosting the previous event in Benque Viejo del Carmen and is doing so again this time around in Belmopan.
The tournament’s top-flight lineup ensures a day of high-quality football that fans won’t want to miss. Action kicks off at 4:00 pm.
