By Zoila Palma: In a united show of environmental stewardship, the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT), the Belmopan City Council, and the Belize Forest Department came together this Earth Day to plant 16 native mahogany and cedar trees in the capital city.
The initiative aims to beautify Belmopan, improve air quality, and promote greener public spaces for future generations.
The saplings, provided by the Forest Department, were planted at locations identified by the City Council, with Councillor Lawrence Tush joining in the hands-on effort.
The remaining nine saplings will support the University of Belize Environmental Club’s tree-planting campaign, part of the group’s Environmental Awareness Month activities.
