By Zoila Palma: Belize’s tourism sector was in the spotlight on November 22 as the 2025 National Tourism Awards Gala celebrated the people and organizations driving the country’s growing reputation as a world-class destination.
The annual ceremony honored frontline workers, cultural ambassadors, hospitality leaders, and innovators whose dedication continues to shape memorable experiences for visitors across the nation.
Hosted in partnership with key industry supporters—including The Fort George Hotel & Spa, Travellers Liquors, Bowen & Bowen, and Knight & Day Photography—the event highlighted the collective effort behind Belize’s tourism success.
Organizers expressed gratitude to stakeholders, communities, and partners whose ongoing contributions strengthen the sector and showcase the country’s beauty to the world.
The gala concluded with the announcement of this year’s award recipients, including Tour Guide of the Year Elvin Torres, Tour Operator of the Year Barefoot Services, and Hotel of the Year Copal Tree Lodge.
Slate & Sap earned Restaurant of the Year, while the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola for his longstanding impact on Belizean tourism.
As the evening closed, industry leaders celebrated a year of growth and renewed commitment to excellence in Belize’s thriving tourism landscape.
