By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize’s long run of fair weather has one more day to give. Tonight stays calm and tomorrow brings more sunshine, but the National Meteorological Service says changes are likely over the weekend, with showers spreading to most areas by Saturday.
According to the forecast, mainly fair and warm weather prevails for now. Skies will be partly cloudy tonight and sunny with a few cloudy spells tomorrow, with only isolated showers expected.
The turn arrives with the weekend. Friday night brings isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly over the south, before showers increase and spread to most areas on Saturday, the first real break in the fair pattern that has blessed the country for more than a week.
Tomorrow’s temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 82 (28 Celsius). Inland areas will stay hot, climbing to 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) and dropping to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and a low of 68 (20 Celsius).
At sea, winds will blow from the east at 10 to 15 knots, with a light chop and waves of 2 to 4 feet.
On the tropical front, a chapter closes. At 9:00 p.m., the remnants of Bertha were centered inland about 40 miles west-northwest of Houston, Texas, moving west at 14 mph with winds of 35 mph, and forecasters have issued their last advisory on the system. Elsewhere in the region, tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the next 48 hours.
Today’s high tides were at 5:31 AM and 8:03 PM, with a low tide at 1:40 PM and another low at 12:02 AM tomorrow. The sun set this evening at 6:28 PM and rises tomorrow at 5:29 AM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Derrick Rudon.
