Belizean volleyball referee Leon Gentle attends international indoor volleyball referee course in Puerto Rico

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Volleyball Association announced this week that Belizean volleyball referee Leon Gentle attended the Continental Referee Course in Indoor Volleyball from January 19-24 in Ponce, Salinas, Puerto Rico.

“Mr. Gentle’s journey in volleyball began in the Dangriga area, where he organized and refereed matches,” the Belize Volleyball Association (BVA) said in statement posted on social media.

“In 2013, he successfully completed his national referee course and went on to officiate at a national level, gradually progressing to referee regionally in Central America.”

The BVA said that after completing the course and meeting the requirements for international matches, Gentle will become a member of the Belize International and Continental referees pool..

“This achievement highlights Leon’s dedication and contributes to the growth of the sport of volleyball in Belize,” the BVA said.

Over the last few years, the BVA has been improving Belize’s performance both at the playing and officiating levels.
