By Zoila Palma: Three talented young Belizean artists earned international recognition at the 56th World School Children’s Art Exhibition held in Taiwan, rising above over 60,000 entries from 41 countries.
The Taiwan Embassy in Belize extended its heartfelt congratulations to the winners, who proudly represented Belize on the global stage during the award ceremony held on August 17 in Taipei.
Twelve-year-old Labiba Meju received the prestigious Special Gold Medal for her artwork titled “How Kids Will Bank in Tomorrow’s World.”
In her remarks, Labiba said her piece aimed to capture “the vibrant soul of Belize through its culture, people, and resilience,” highlighting themes of education, community, and conservation.
Sarina Ramos, age 8, took home a Gold Medal for her imaginative piece “The Hairiest Man Competition,” while 5-year-old Khushan Thadhain earned a Selected Award for “When My Mom Was Brushing Teeth.”
The Embassy praised the young artists not only for their creativity and vision, but also for their contribution to cultural exchange between Belize, Taiwan, and the broader international community.
