By Zoila Palma: Belizean nurses are joining forces to assist their Jamaican counterparts as they recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The call for solidarity came from members of the Nurses Association of Belize (NAB), who urged fellow healthcare workers and Belizeans to contribute whatever they can to help nurses in Jamaica rebuild their lives and workplaces.
Nurse Renita Pop encouraged fellow nurses to assist, “If you are in the Belmopan area and can assist collect a dollar each from your coworkers or church family or family and friends and can do so please do I can make time to pick up donations to convert to US$ for handing over.”
“Any kind donation before the 8th would be highly appreciated,” Pop added.
Hurricane Melissa, which recently tore through parts of the Caribbean, left widespread destruction in its wake, damaging homes, hospitals, and community infrastructure.
