By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A domestic dispute in Orange Walk resulted in a man being hospitalized after he reportedly ingested Paraquat, one of the most toxic agricultural chemicals in Belize. The incident was reported to police around 10:15 p.m., after he was brought to the Northern Regional Hospital.
Family members told police that earlier that day, his partner had applied for maintenance at Family Court. The evening dispute that followed escalated quickly, and the man allegedly announced he would poison himself. He then walked to a nearby shed, grabbed a gallon of Paraquat, and began drinking it before relatives intervened.
Although he initially refused medical attention, relatives transported him to the hospital, where he remains under medical observation.
Police are investigating the circumstances but have not disclosed whether additional action will be taken.
