By Horace Palacio: A Belizean family is demanding justice after their loved one, 28-year-old Chelsea Adolphus, was found dead on the rooftop of Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, Illinois. Originally from Santa Elena Town, Adolphus had gone to the hospital seeking treatment for a minor medical issue but was later discovered lifeless, exposed to freezing temperatures for over seven hours.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, Adolphus’ cause of death was hypothermia, raising serious concerns about how she ended up on the hospital’s rooftop in the first place. Investigators revealed that the door leading to the roof was locked from the outside, deepening the mystery surrounding her death.
Her grieving family has since filed a lawsuit against the hospital, citing premises liability, negligence, and medical malpractice. They are demanding the immediate release of surveillance footage and 911 call recordings, which they believe may hold crucial information about the tragic incident.
“How does a patient go missing inside a hospital and later turn up dead on the roof?” a family spokesperson questioned. “Something went terribly wrong, and we need answers.”
The hospital has yet to provide a detailed explanation, and as the lawsuit unfolds, pressure is mounting for authorities to ensure transparency in the investigation.
For now, Adolphus’ family remains in anguish, hoping that their legal action will shed light on what happened that fateful night and hold those responsible accountable.
