Belizean cyclists, coaches head to Trinidad for UCI Training

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Cycling Federation of Belize announced on Saturday that cyclists Christopher Waight and Chelsy Gillett have travelled to Couva, Trinidad for a two-week track and cycling training program at the World Satellite Cycling Center, organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

Waight and Gillett will train under elite international cycling experts, aiming to sharpen their track cycling skills and bring valuable experience back to Belize’s growing cycling scene.

The CFB said that Evrit Matute and Giovanni Lovell would also be traveling to Trinidad, where they will take part in a one-week Level 2 Coaches Training. This opportunity comes after their successful completion of the Level 1 online Coaches Training, setting the stage for further professional development in the sport.

The initiative highlights the CFB’s commitment to advancing its presence in international cycling, with athletes and coaches alike gaining world-class training that will strengthen local cycling programs.

The Cycling Federation of Belize wished the cyclists and coaches safe travels as they represent Belize in these training opportunities.
