Belizean cyclist Carlton Robinson claims 2nd consecutive stage in 2nd Vuelta Maya in Mérida, Mexico; 3 Belizeans in Top 5

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Carlton Robinson of Team Belize conquered the second stage in the 2nd Vuelta Maya in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico on Saturday leading two other Belizeans who placed in the top five. Robinson now leads the Merida three-stage race after winning the first two stages.

According to a report to Santino Castillo, Robinson, who finished fourth in the Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic, beat a seven-man group that got away from the peloton to capture the top spot in the stage.

Second place was taken by Belizean Edgar Nissan Arana, riding for Team SKY. Arana improved on his third place on Friday and now follows Robinson in second place in the General Classification.

Third place was picked up by Manuel Serrano, a 42-year-old Mexican Masters rider, who won the 2023 Tour de Santino.

Belizean Joslyn Chavarria finished in fourth place in the second stage. He was followed by Mexican Allan Carrillo from Cozumel in fifth place.

Santino Castillo, who finished fifth on Friday in the Masters Over 60, was dropped in the final climb and finished either sixth or seventh. He fell by more than three minutes behind the Top Five.
