By Zoila Palma: The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) has reported that the national Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) stood at 46.8 in August 2025, reflecting a 2.9% increase from 45.5 in July.
This marks the second consecutive month of improvement following a period of steady declines earlier in the year.
The CCI measures consumer sentiment regarding the country’s economic conditions, household finances, and willingness to make major purchases such as homes, vehicles, and appliances.
While an index above 50 signals optimism, August’s reading of 46.8 suggests that overall consumer outlook remains cautious, though trending upward.
According to the SIB, improvements were noted across all three components of the index: perceptions of current conditions compared to last year, expectations for the coming 12 months, and confidence in purchasing durable goods.
