By Zoila Palma: Belize’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) reached 48.0 in December 2024, marking a 7.6% increase from November’s score of 44.7, the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) noted.

This marks the highest level of consumer sentiment seen in recent months, bringing the index closer to the optimistic threshold of 50, where consumers typically feel more confident about the economy and their own financial prospects.

The CCI, which measures consumer sentiment regarding the economy, household financial situations, and major household purchases, serves as an early indicator of future household spending, investing, and saving.

A higher index suggests that consumers are more likely to spend, contributing to economic growth.
