By Zoila Palma: Chief Petty Officer Windel Ogaldez has made history as the first Belizean to attend the Gunnery Instructors Foreign Course in India, representing the Belize Coast Guard alongside military personnel from 10 countries.
The course, held at INS Dronacharya, focuses on weapons systems, sensors, weapons training, small arms and the instruction of military personnel.
The Belize Coast Guard said the training will enhance Ogaldez’s professional expertise, with the knowledge and experience expected to contribute to weapons training and institutional development within the Service upon his return to Belize.
The training also marked a special moment of friendship between Belize and India as the Indian Navy joined Ogaldez in commemorating Belize’s 45th Independence Anniversary on September 21.
The Belize Coast Guard expressed appreciation to the Government of India, the Indian Navy and the leadership and instructional staff of INS Dronacharya for the training opportunity.
