By Aaron Humes: Clay Monsanto Jr., a Belizean national, was shot and killed in the Bronx on Tuesday morning. Footage of the incident has been shared by U.S. media outlets, showing the moment when Monsanto was shot in the back.
According to reports, Monsanto was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The motive behind his killing remains unknown.
This latest incident is the latest in a string of tragedies to hit the Monsanto family. Clay Monsanto Sr., the father of the deceased, was murdered in March 2024 in Belize City when a gunman scaled the fence of his home and opened fire. Previously, Kadeem Monsanto, 17, was shot and killed in the Backatown area of Belize City in 2011. Another brother, Claymar, was tragically shot and killed as an infant in 2002.
