Belize Youth Forum highlights Data-driven approach to strengthening disaster preparedness

By Zoila Palma: The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) engaged hundreds of students during Belize’s Second National Youth Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction, encouraging greater youth involvement in national preparedness efforts.

High school and junior college students met with CCCCC representatives to discuss how climate threats affect communities and what steps can reduce disaster risks.

In partnership with the Coalition for Disaster Readiness (CDRI), the Centre highlighted the importance of reliable data in assessing vulnerabilities to homes, schools, businesses, and infrastructure.

Exhibits and demonstrations showed how data-driven planning supports stronger national resilience.

The CCCCC also outlined its ongoing collaboration with international partners and local communities to strengthen Belize’s disaster readiness.

Students visiting the booth received practical guidance on risk reduction and resilience-building.
