Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) set for rematch against Cuba in Havana on Sunday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) is gearing up for their rematch against the Cuba Women’s National Team (CWNT) this Sunday at 5:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize time) at the Pedro Marrero Stadium in Havana, Cuba. After a 2-0 defeat on Thursday, the BWNT is going into the rematch with renewed vigour, determined to put on a better performance.

In Thursday’s match, the CWNT triumphed with goals from Eunises Núñez and Indira Hechevarría, leaving the BWNT eager for redemption.

Sunday’s encounter marks the fourth friendly match for the BWNT since July. Earlier, they faced Bermuda twice at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. The BWNT celebrated a 2-0 victory in the first match on Thursday, July 11, with Captain Sabrina Eiley scoring both goals. However, they faced a setback with a 2-0 loss in the second match on Sunday, July 14.

These friendly matches are crucial for the BWNT as they prepare for next year’s Concacaf Women’s Championship, following their promotion to the Concacaf Nations League B. The team is using these games to fine-tune their strategies and build cohesion ahead of the highly anticipated major tournament.
