By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) improved on their play against Cuba on Sunday in the second friendly match in the Caribbean island-country but fell 1-0 at the Pedro Marrero Stadium in Havana.
Laura Moreno scored the only goal of the match in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half (45’+2).
“Your team looked different today,” the Cuba manager of National Teams told the FFB.
“They had a different attitude, I saw that they were very aggressive, they had the breaks to draw and even to win. Both teams had breaks. It was a good game today. Belize was much different that Thursday.”
The BWNT had lost 2-0 in the first friendly on Thursday.
Sunday’s encounter was the fourth friendly match for the BWNT as they prepare for next year’s Concacaf Women’s Championship. In July, the BWNT played two matches against Bermuda at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. They won the first game 2-0 on Thursday, July 11 on a brace by Captain Sabrina Eiley. However, they suffered a 2-0 defeat in their second meeting on Sunday, July 14.
