By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belizeans can expect drier conditions across most of the country today as the atmosphere becomes less unstable, but occasional showers may still develop later tonight, especially in southern and coastal areas.
Today will bring mostly sunny skies interspersed with a few cloudy spells. Showers and thunderstorms will generally be isolated, providing some relief from recent wet conditions. However, residents along the coast and in southern districts should remain alert for increased moisture late tonight that may bring additional showers or thunderstorms.
Tropical weather activity remains minimal in the region. According to the National Meteorological Service, there are no signs of tropical cyclone formation in the North Atlantic Basin within the next 48 hours, offering a short-term reprieve during what is typically an active season.
Mariners are advised that winds are blowing from the east to northeast at 10 to 20 knots, resulting in a choppy sea state and wave heights between 3 and 5 feet. Temperatures today will soar to 93°F inland, 87°F along the coast, and 79°F in the hills. Tonight will see cooler lows, with temperatures dipping to 75°F inland and 68°F in higher areas.
The short-term outlook for Wednesday predicts a few morning showers and isolated thunderstorms near the coast, with these spreading to other areas by afternoon. By Wednesday night, most of the country will see drier conditions, although the south may continue to experience some lingering showers.
Tidal movements today include a high at 7:40 AM, a low at 3:32 PM, and another high at 9:43 PM. Tomorrow’s early low tide occurs at 2:05 AM. The sun rose at 5:24 AM and will set at 6:31 PM. The moon will rise at 5:00 PM and set early tomorrow at 4:05 AM.
Forecast prepared by meteorologist Tareek Matthews.
