Belize Weather: Sunny skies and soaring temperatures with afternoon storms expected

By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect a mostly sunny and warm day with temperatures reaching up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) inland, the National Meteorological Service said on Thursday.

Coastal areas will experience slightly cooler temperatures, with highs of 91 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius), while hilly regions can expect temperatures around 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius).

Despite the warm sunshine, isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop over inland areas during the afternoon. Southern and some coastal areas are expected to experience a few outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow morning.

Marine conditions will remain calm, with light chop and winds blowing from the east to southeast at 5-15 knots.

The outlook for Friday and Friday night is for cloudy spells with outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms to develop over southern and some coastal areas.

Residents and visitors are advised to stay hydrated, seek shade during peak heat hours, and be prepared for possible afternoon thunderstorms.
