Belize Weather: Rain to affect Christmas Eve, Day plans

By Breaking Belize News Staff: According to the National Meteorological Service, a relatively moist northeasterly airflow prevails, and a further increase in showery activity is expected over the next 24-48 hours. Over the next 24 hours, skies will be sunny with cloudy spells, with a few showers or periods of rain continuing over the country, but especially in southern districts and offshore areas, along with the chance for isolated thunderstorms to develop. It will be cloudy at times tonight, with showery activity increasing along with a few thunderstorms mainly over the north and southern coastal areas.

The average high temperatures forecast for today are 83 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 86 degrees in inland areas, and 74 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures will be 74 degrees along the coast, 70 degrees inland, and 65 degrees in the hills.
Winds are northeasterly at ten to 20 knots, and wave action is moderate to rough. Small craft caution: moderate to fresh winds with locally rough seas in northeasterly swells beyond the reef are expected mostly over northern and central areas. Operators of small crafts are advised to monitor the situation and exercise caution.

Tides will be low at 7:17 this morning and 6:35 this evening, and high at 1:27 this afternoon. The sun rose at 6:19 this morning and sets at 5:24 this evening.

A wet Christmas Day is expected with some showers, periods of rain, and a few thunderstorms likely to affect most areas Christmas Day, then mainly southern, coastal, and offshore areas Christmas night.
