Belize Weather: Christmas Day washed out

By Breaking Belize News Staff: According to the National Meteorological Service, moist and unstable conditions will prevail over most areas on this Christmas Day. Over the next 24 hours, skies will be mostly cloudy with some showers, periods of rain, and a few thunderstorms over most areas. Skies are expected to become cloudy at times tonight, as a few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms are likely to continue affecting mainly central coastal and southern areas.

The average high temperatures forecast for today are 83 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 84 degrees in inland areas, and 75 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures will be 74 degrees along the coast, 71 degrees inland, and 66 degrees in the hills.

Winds are easterly to northeasterly at ten to 20 knots, and wave action is moderate to rough. Occasionally gusty winds and locally rough seas in east to northeasterly swells, especially near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Operators of small crafts are advised to monitor the situation and exercise caution.

Tides will be low at 7:55 this morning and 7:39 this evening, and high at 2:06 this afternoon. The sun rose at 6:19 this morning and sets at 5:24 this evening.

A few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms can be expected mostly in central and southern districts on Friday, then mainly over southern districts on Friday night.
