By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After winning silver in July 2023 at the XIV Under 19 Women’s Central American Volleyball Championship hosted at the Belize City Center, the Belize U19 Women’s National Volleyball Team is now set to compete in the XV edition of the tournament, scheduled for November 11–15 at the FESAVOL Gymnasium in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Belizean enter the regional championship with renewed ambition. While Costa Rica took top honours in 2023, Belize’s young athletes made their mark: Khaya Gordon claimed both Best Attacker and Best Scorer awards, and Blessed Omamurhe was named Best Blocker.
In the key match that secured them second place in the 2023 tournament, Belize outlasted Guatemala in a dramatic five-set thriller (16-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-12, 15-13). Led by Nisaan Martinez with 31 points and Khaya Gordon with 26, Belize overcame early setbacks to secure the win and the silver medal.
This year’s U19 team features a new generation of players, with only a few returning from the 2023 roster. Their participation follows a strong year for Belizean volleyball, which included a bronze medal for the A National Women’s Team at the Central American Games last month.
Adding to the momentum, Belize’s U21 Women’s National Team captured the Central American Championship title in July 2024, also held at the Belize City Centre. Belize won gold, with Nicaragua taking silver and Guatemala securing bronze, marking a historic achievement for the country and further solidifying its regional standing.
Belize have Honduras and Nicaragua as their rivals in Group B for this tournament. Group A features Costa Rica, Guatemala, and host nation El Salvador. The tournament format includes round-robin group play followed by final placement matches on Friday and Saturday.

All matches will be played at the FESAVOL Gymnasium in San Salvador.
- Wednesday, Nov 12 – 4:30 pm: Belize vs Honduras
- Thursday, Nov 13 – 4:30 pm: Belize vs Nicaragua
- Friday, Nov 14 – 5th Place game and Semifinals
- Saturday, Nov 15: 3rd Place and Final
