By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 7, 2023, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and the Ministry of Tourism launched the National Cruise Tourism Policy.
The updated National Cruise Tourism Policy launch was held at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City.
The policy is a 10-year road map for the development of the cruise ship industry in Belize and was developed based on extensive consultations among local and international partners from the public and private sector.
The BTB noted that the policy aligns and complements the strategic vision for Belize’s tourism development established within the National Sustainable Master Plan 2030 and the National Tourism Policy.
At the official launching, Evan Tillett, Director of Tourism, gave the welcome remarks while Nicole Solano, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Tourism & Diaspora Relations, delivered the keynote address.
Abil Castañeda, Chief Tourism Officer, made a presentation on the policy to tour operators and industry stakeholders in attendance.
