By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 11, 2024, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) held the groundbreaking and unveiling of the Belize Marine Rescue & Educational Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating endangered marine life like the Antillean manatee.
Located in Gales Point, Manatee, this project is spearheaded by Jamal Galvez and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Research Institute Belize, with the support of many partners, including the Ministry of Tourism & Diaspora Relations and the Belize Tourism Board.
“It represents a major step forward in wildlife conservation, education, and community engagement in Belize.
Together, we are safeguarding marine ecosystems for generations to come. Stay tuned for more updates on this incredible initiative,” the BTB said.
