By Zoila Palma: On April 23, 2026, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), in collaboration with Carnival Cruise Line, welcomed students from Saint John’s College Junior College aboard the Carnival Liberty for an immersive, hands-on learning experience.
The visit offered a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the scale, coordination, and innovation that power one of the world’s leading cruise lines.
Students engaged with team members across key departments, including operations, guest services, entertainment, safety, and sustainability, gaining firsthand insight into how each function works together to deliver seamless experiences for thousands of guests every single day.
The session also highlighted the importance of teamwork, strategic planning, and service excellence in a high-volume, high-stakes environment.
“Experiences like this are invaluable. They bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world practice, strengthening students’ understanding of destination management, tourism product development, and the career paths this industry offers,” the BTB said.
The BTB says that it remains committed to supporting initiatives that inspire and equip the next generation of tourism professionals, while showcasing the strength and potential of Belize as a world-class destination.
