The Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) will face Venezuela on October 14, 2025, in an international friendly at SeatGeek Stadium in Chicago, Illinois. The match marks Belize’s first-ever encounter with a South American national team, a major step forward in the country’s football development.
The agreement was finalized on Wednesday, confirmed to Breaking Belize News by Football Federation of Belize (FFB) President Sergio Chuc.
For Belize, the match represents one of the most challenging tests in its football history—only the USA, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, and Honduras have presented comparable opposition.
The announcement comes on the heels of Belize’s recent 5–1 defeat to Atlanta United B, the reserve squad of the Major League Soccer club, in a friendly held in Atlanta. While the result was sobering, it left clear the need for tougher international competition to elevate Belize’s performance and experience.
Belize previously competed in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but was eliminated early in the campaign. The upcoming match against Venezuela offers a rare opportunity to test the BMNT against a CONMEBOL opponent known for its technical quality, tactical discipline, and competitive pedigree.
SeatGeek Stadium, a venue with a rich history of hosting international fixtures, will provide a professional stage for the October 14 clash. The FFB is expected to release further details on kickoff time, squad selection, and ticketing in the coming days.
