By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize forecasts a day of mixed weather conditions, with sunny spells punctuated by cloudy periods and scattered showers. Relatively moist airflow persists over the area, bringing a few showers or isolated thunderstorms along the coast this morning, gradually moving inland by the afternoon. Tonight, expect cloudy skies with outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in southern and coastal regions.
Temperatures will vary across the country. Coastal areas can expect highs of 86°F (30°C) and lows of 78°F (26°C). Inland areas will be warmer, reaching 92°F (33°C) during the day and cooling to 72°F (22°C) at night. The hill regions will experience milder temperatures, with highs of 77°F (25°C) and lows of 65°F (18°C).
Marine conditions are generally calm, with light and variable winds and a slight sea state. Waves are expected to be between 1 and 3 feet.
The National Meteorological Service is monitoring two areas of low pressure for potential tropical development. The first is located over the central tropical Atlantic, while the second is in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. Both systems currently have a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead, Thursday and Thursday night will see outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms, with periods of rain developing across most areas.
